My Background
Thank you for visiting and wanting to learn more about Beat It Drum Therapy. I hope we can travel this road together and find some harmony through the drums & percussion or other form of art expression.
My name is Jacey Brown. I am a Qualified Counsellor; Facilitator; Educator and Drum Tutor for Beginners. I have my Police Clearance check and Working with Children Card and will always keep these updated.
My specialist field is Domestic & Family Violence, and the complexity surrounding this such as homelessness; ill mental health; trauma; affects on children; co-dependency; separation anxiety; fear; isolation and the struggle of building a new life after leaving such toxicity.
These experiences can shape our lives and the paths we choose to take. I love when my clients have their ‘lightbulb’ moment…….when they realise all that they have endured in life, is a lesson, and they can choose to use it to reach their full potential.
I ran my own Home Day Care business in the UK where I was Accredited as an Outstanding Provider by the regulatory body. I am A diploma Qualified Early Years Childcare Educator. In this role and other roles in daycare within WA, I learned the varied stages of development; the functioning of the brain and how much children soak up from a very early age. As a Facilitator for the evidenced based program ‘Bringing up Great Kids’, I am able to educate parents how our messages, beliefs, values impact our children and how these may shape the way our children build their friendships & futures.
I learned as a mum of teenagers, that being a ‘helicopter parent’ and trying to protect them, just pushes them further away. I learned my most valued lessons, from my own children.
Having also owned a recording studio in the UK, and written my own songs, my passion lies in creating music. Putting my feelings and experiences into words and seeing the end result is a fulfilling achievement.
Many years ago my very good friend and Psychic Medium told me to attend something with African Drums. I went to a couple of small events, and loved the sound of the bass beating through my chest, and the way the drum resonated and touched my soul. I was already learning to play an acoustic drum kit then, and my dream was to play on stage one day. 25 years later, I was searching online for courses that might help me upskill my counselling knowledge, and came across DRUMBEAT ®. I booked on the facilitator training course and I was hooked. I knew this was for me and Beat It Drum Therapy was born!
Why choose me?
If you have an inner voice or feeling that is preventing you from being who you desire to be, or
you are living in a situation you want to run from but don’t know how,
or you are a parent, struggling to understand your purpose,
or you are wondering why you keep attracting partners that abuse you,
or you want to work on your relationship but need to understand healthy boundaries, or
you are experiencing grief or loss and you feel like you are not coping……
Through various trauma’s in my life, I have learned what resilience is; I had to learn to love myself (which is an ongoing journey); learn that not everything in life is bright and beautiful - but that with the right guidance and techniques, I can live amongst the ugliness and bring my own beauty to any situation. I am living proof that from trauma and being cocooned for so long, we can still spread our beautiful wings and fly.
I hope to help you spread your wings - you can do it.
